4.29.2020 Essential Oils: Promise or Poison?

In this webinar, Narda G. Robinson, DO, DVM, MS, FAAMA, introduces viewers to the pros and cons of essential oils. These pharmacologically active plant extracts appear throughout our daily lives. They exist in food, teas, cosmetics, many medicinal and dental products, and in room fresheners, cleaning products, and pesticides. You probably already know the names of several, such as camphor, peppermint, wintergreen, sandalwood, sage, lavender, clove, cinnamon, tea tree, eucalyptus, and bergamot. But, are they safe? Just because they come from plants and have, sometimes, millennia of use doesn’t mean that they should be used on you, your children, your patients (if you are a healthcare provider), or on/in/around non-human animals. Many can be poisonous if absorbed transcutaneously (through the skin) or ingested. Few have been sufficiently tested for quality, effectiveness, and safety. Start your science-based learning through CuraCore VET / CuraCore MED as Dr. Robinson introduces you to what is known and unknown about essential oils.

6.3.2020 PRIMA Certification: The Pain, Rehabilitation, and Integrative Medicine Advantage™

Did you ever ask yourself, “Why did I choose this profession?” Depression, burnout, and anxiety are on the rise in healthcare practitioners. Concerns about mounting student debt, increased competition from other clinics, the high cost of medical equipment and technology, and the pressure of working with clients that are unable or unwilling to pay for veterinary care stand out as key factors in the toll that being a veterinarian takes on an individual. In comparison, which factors promote wellbeing? Who can argue with working at a more comfortable pace, owning one’s practice, earning more, exercising regularly, tending to personal relationships, and being the type of veterinarian that we always hoped we would be? We need more than BAND-AIDS. We need structural change. HERE’S THE GOOD NEWS.You have options. Lots of options. You may not have felt (or feel) powerful enough as a veterinary student to make change. Now that you are, or almost are, a veterinarian, you can practice medicine up to your standards, no longer silenced. You can choose your place of work based on the ethics of the company, or build your own team and practice independently. You can join a group or stay solo as a mobile veterinarian. Most of all, you can decide if, when, and to whom to refer for further work-ups, safeguarding your patients and clients against painful, needless, traumatic surgery. You are able to advocate for forward-thinking pain management, rehabilitation, and integrative medicine early in disease development and soon after surgery in order to avert long-term disability. And, the evidence backs you up. With research mounting in medical acupuncture, massage, botanical medicine, physical medicine, and light-based therapies, you stand on strong footing when you advocate for change. You are a leader in the advancement of veterinary medicine. In this webinar, Narda G. Robinson, DO, DVM, MS, FAAMA outlines the 10 steps you can take, beginning today, to become a certified PRIMA veterinarian through CuraCore® VET.

6.17.2020 Fascia:  What’s Been Missing from Rehabilitation

Fascia. Yes, that’s right — the stuff your anatomy instructor told you to remove and discard. Turns out it was important, after all. Key to coordinated movement and the appropriate dissipation of forces, fascia develops as a continuous network, connecting your skin to your organs, vessels, muscles, nerves, and bones. Its fibroblasts repair, maintain, and regenerate tissue. Its innervation provides proprioception, nociception, and vascular regulation. This endlessly impressive organizer of whole body integration has been hiding in plain site all this time — like the recently discovered black hole that’s been “almost on our doorstep”. Stop ignoring what could be your best friend moving forward. Through this webinar, Narda G. Robinson, DO, DVM, MS, FAAMA awakens you to the ubiquity of fascia and its transformative potential. Thoughtful, integrative rehabilitation means so much more than exercise prescriptions.

7.1.2020 THE UNTOLD STORY: Scientific Integrative Medicine. Episode 1, Seizures.

Treatment practices taught in veterinary school typically tout drugs and surgery, omitting consideration of medical acupuncture, photomedicine, botanicals, massage, and movement therapy. Here’s your chance to fill the gaps. Join Narda G. Robinson, DO, DVM, MS, FAAMA, as she presents the case for spending more time assessing patients, palpating their structure, listing differentials, and offering sound, scientific, integrative and rehabilitative solutions. Medicine need not be a battleground. By nurturing patients’ inner ecologies, we co-create a system of gentler healthcare based on better medicine and bond-centered care.

7.15.2020 The MAIN Protocol: Myofascial, Autonomic, and Integrative Neuromodulation. The Way Forward for Acupuncture

The MAIN protocol, Dr. Robinson’s trademark technique that cultivates comprehensive, effective, and efficient treatment protocol formulation by medical acupuncturists, is officially described as the “Medical Acupuncture and Integrative Neuromodulation” approach. One of her colleagues and faculty members, Dr. Andrew Claude, renamed it the “Myofascial, Autonomic, and Integrative Neuromodulation” method, which is also appropriate. In this webinar, Dr. Robinson covers the rationale and treatment approach for MAIN which is now the standard framework for treatment protocols in the Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians (MAV) program by CuraCore® VET.

7.22.2020 Questioning Chiropractic for Animals

When a veterinarian or chiropractor “adjusts” an animal, what happens? Is it safe? is it effective? What’s behind that “pop”, anyway? Do neck “cracks” cause strokes? In this thought-provoking webinar, Narda G. Robinson, DO, DVM, MS, FAAMA presents the knowns, unknowns, and controversial underpinnings of chiropractic — practices that so many fail to question, yet pursue either for themselves, their beloved animals or children, or for their career.

7.29.2020 Wait! Don’t Cut! When and why to explore integrative medicine as an alternative to surgery for your dog. (Recording)

How many times do veterinary surgeons refer patients out for integrative medicine and rehabilitation instead of surgery? How many of them give you a complete and accurate comparison of the risks and benefits of surgical vs. non-surgical approaches? Maybe, not that often? Maybe, never? It’s up to you to learn the facts about medical acupuncture, photomedicine, massage, herbal therapies, and rehabilitation before something happens to your dog or cat so that you’re not left wondering if all that pain and suffering after a highly invasive and costly surgery might have been avoidable. Kicking yourself in the head hurts.

8.12.2020 The Untold Story: Scientific Integrative Medicine. Episode 2, IVDD / Spinal Cord Injury

It’s so frustrating for us to tell, and for clients to hear, these seven words: “There’s nothing more that can be done.” ESPECIALLY when there is actually a lot that can be done, but the veterinarian in charge either doesn’t know, or isn’t able to speak about non-drug, non-surgical methods of care. Why? Because surgery and drugs dominate our profession and academic curricula. They often either omit or disparage consideration of medical acupuncture, photomedicine, botanicals, massage, and movement therapy. As such, you’re left in the dark. Here’s your chance to fill the gaps. Join Narda G.
