8.26.2020 PVM PRIMA — Renewal and Revitalization of the Professional Veterinary Medical (PVM) Curriculum

Like an old home suffering from neglect, the PVM curriculum needs TLC. Across higher education, the chaos of the moment is causing disorientation and isolation. Even prior to the pandemic, veterinary students have been struggling with depression and confusion about what their futures will hold and how they can find happiness and fulfillment in a profession marred by rising rates of suicide.

In this webinar, Dr. Narda Robinson describes the PVM PRIMA program, a four-year course of study in the Pain, Rehabilitation, and Integrative Medicine Advantage® (PRIMA) that horizontally and vertically dovetails with the currently standard PVM curriculum. By combining both synchronous and asynchronous distance learning with onsite opportunities, PVM PRIMA corrects for long standing insufficiencies in the veterinary college course of study dominated by a pharmaceutical / surgical mindset.

PVM PRIMA expands the vision of what it means to work with animals as a healthcare practitioner, moving medicine forward in five significant ways. First, we highlight the self-healing capacity of the body. Second, we provide information on the basic science and clinical applications of medical acupuncture, medical massage, photomedicine, botanical measures, and integrative rehabilitation. Third, we instruct participants about how to match the salutary mechanisms of integrative medical interventions to the pathogenic mechanisms of trauma and disease. Fourth, we teach students how to examine animals in a friendly, fear-free manner. Fifth, we educate students about the benefits of including scientific integrative medicine as first-line care — producing outcomes that can be more clinically meaningful and cost-effective than currently taught “conventional” approaches.

9.2.2020 Homeopathy for Animals — Cure or Con?

Does the adage, “If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is,” apply to veterinary homeopathy? Or, could there actually be value in administering, essentially, sugar pills for all that aches and pains your sweet little darling? And, what does it mean for a veterinarian to be “certified” in veterinary homeopathy? In this webinar, Dr. Narda Robinson puts homeopathy in general, and veterinary homeopathy specifically, under a microscope. Know what you’re buying into if you sign onto this highly controversial approach.
