eMAV™  Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians Certification Program, RACE/NYSED approved

Narda G. Robinson, DO, DVM, MS, FAAMA founded the field of veterinary medical acupuncture in 1998.  She based her work, and her course, Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians (MAV), on information derived from lifelong study of the principles and practice of human and veterinary acupuncture, osteopathic medicine, and the art and science of neuromodulation. Her impact has spread worldwide, influencing both veterinary and human understanding of the science of acupuncture through works such as her landmark extensively researched 1215 page highly visual medical atlas, Interactive Medical Acupuncture Anatomy, published in 2016. Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians is a product of Dr. Robinson’s lifetime commitment to building and sharing her knowledge in the most dynamic and professional manner. Throughout this program, you will learn ways to provide your patients safe and effective treatments, whether you practice in a general, pain medicine and rehabilitation, specialty, or home-care setting. We educate you on the scientific support of medical acupuncture and related techniques can make you a more effective practitioner. Implementing scientific medical acupuncture and related techniques provide new avenues through which to address difficult and frustrating problems commonly seen in veterinary practice. The eMAV™ curriculum provides you with the skills needed to thoroughly examine animals and offer relief from:

  • Post-surgical pain and ileus
  • Debilitating arthritis
  • Chronic back and neck pain
  • Intervertebral disk disease
  • Immune dysfunction
  • Muscle tension
  • And much more!

This is only a sampling of the illnesses and symptoms you’ll learn how to treat using medical acupuncture as a CuraCore certified veterinarian. You must complete the 50+ hours of online video instruction, assessments for each module, and mastery of the canine or equine “big points” innervations and locations prior to the live interactive long-distance sessions. We now offer the Clinical Intensives via several, live interactive long-distance learning sessions.  These are done both in groups and one-on-one.  These serve as the clinical expertise-building portions of the program after you have completed the online instruction.  For those still wanting an in-person, hands-on session, eMAV™  grads are welcome to register for any of our onsite Clinical Intensives — simply register for the eMAV™ Grad Experience. eMAV™ Clinical Intensives focus on small or large animals. To become certified in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture (cVMA) you must successfully complete the following:

  • Complete all online modules quizzes and assessments (prior to the Clinical Intensive)
  • Pass all online quizzes and assessments by greater than 70%
  • Complete the interactive long distance eMAV™ Clinical Intensive
  • Pass a written and hands-on testing by greater than 70%
  • Submit and have accepted your case report (you have six months to complete without a penalty)

Certificates are mailed upon successful completion. PLEASE NOTE: IF we do not have the confidence that you can perform a safe and effective treatment by means of our electronic meetings, you will need to complete additional 2 to 3 days onsite. We include one exam and one exam retake in the cost of the program. Cost of additional exam retakes is $125 for each additional testing session. IF we do not have confidence that the testing conditions were secure (i.e., you were being assisted by another party,) we may insist on in-person testing for certification. Am I Eligible?
