COURSE OVERVIEW
eMAV™  Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians Certification Program, RACE/NYSED approved

Narda G. Robinson, DO, DVM, MS, FAAMA founded the field of veterinary medical acupuncture in 1998.  She based her work, and her course, Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians (MAV), on information derived from lifelong study of the principles and practice of human and veterinary acupuncture, osteopathic medicine, and the art and science of neuromodulation. Her impact has spread worldwide, influencing both veterinary and human understanding of the science of acupuncture through works such as her landmark extensively researched 1215 page highly visual medical atlas, Interactive Medical Acupuncture Anatomy, published in 2016. Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians is a product of Dr. Robinson’s lifetime commitment to building and sharing her knowledge in the most dynamic and professional manner. Throughout this program, you will learn ways to provide your patients safe and effective treatments, whether you practice in a general, pain medicine and rehabilitation, specialty, or home-care setting. We educate you on the scientific support of medical acupuncture and related techniques can make you a more effective practitioner. Her impact has spread worldwide, influencing both veterinary and human understanding of the science of acupuncture through works such as her landmark extensively researched 1215 page highly visual medical atlas, Interactive Medical Acupuncture Anatomy, published in 2016.

        Cannabis for Veterinary Professionals

LEARN THE SCIENCE AND COMPLEXITY OF CANNABINOID MEDICINE.

Veterinarians face many questions when it comes to cannabis.  How does it work? Is it safe? What are the safeguards to regulate veterinary products?  Which regulations impact veterinarians’ ability to prescribe cannabis?  How does cannabidiol (CBD) differ from delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol in terms of clinical effects and toxicity? Where can I find reliable information online?

This course aims to educate veterinarians, veterinary nurses, and technicians about multiple aspects of cannabis treatment — recognizing its historical lineage, safety concerns, and proven ability to regulate endogenous analgesic and homeostatic processes.

The class is open to veterinary healthcare professionals as well as those from other professions that have a desire to learn more about the pharmacology and safety issues concerning cannabis. As such, prospective enrollees should read the following prerequisites carefully in order to ensure that they have a strong enough scientifically based education in order to grasp fundamental pharmacologic and clinical concepts.

Completion of this course does not grant the authority to prescribe any type of cannabis product, and participants should explore and understand local, regional, and national restrictions concerning cannabis that would apply to them and their practice, if applicable. Completion of this program does not grant any licensure or certification to practice medicine.
